About Us

The Tyreic E. Hemphill Memorial Scholarship Foundation (TEHMSF) provides scholarships annually to assist with post high school education expenses of three (3) high school seniors who exemplify the qualities of academic excellence, community leadership, and commitment to service.

Academic Excellence

We believe that hard work and perseverance in the classroom leads to extraordinary academic achievement.

Community Leadership

We believe that students have the power to tackle issues that matter to them in their respective communities.

Commitment To Service

We celebrate students who work in service of others to make the world a better place.

Our Legacy

The Tyreic E. Hemphill Memorial Scholarship Foundation (TEHMSF) was established in memory of Tyreic Ely’Ja Hemphill, a Senior at Jordan High School who ranked in the top 10 percent of his class, and hoped to study engineering at Howard University. He passed away in 2013 after a tragic car accident. He left his parents Tony and Doreen, and sister Toren.

TYREIC E. HEMPHILL

Tyreic was a tremendously well-liked and well-respected student, son, and friend. He was a remarkable human being who touched the lives of all who knew him. Those of us who went to school with him, played with him, or lived with him, consider ourselves fortunate for having shared those times. He was a scholar at the Emily K Center and a member of the Movement of Youth program. This scholarship was created at Tyreic’s parents’ request, in the hope of giving back to students who embody the spirit of excellence that Tyreic was known for.
